Polychromatic
a graphic publication that initiates a conversation about the position, experiences and acceptance of the non-binary community in society.
context
There is a common practice of classifying non-binary genders as ‘different’ or ‘other’.
This project uses an ally’s perspective to step back and question existing gender norms
and rigid binary classification of gender in society.
Polychromatic
The intent behind the title – Polychromatic, is to demonstrate the gender spectrum using Poly (many; multiple) and Chroma (intensity of distinctive hue; saturation of a colour). To contradict the popular belief that gender is binary, if it’s supposed that we use the colours black and white to portray binaries, (male and female) then multiple colours portray the spectrum between the binaries.
